Child found playing in road alone

Updated: Tue 7:08 PM, Aug 21, 2012

A Laurel County father is behind bars, after deputies say they found his son playing alone along a busy street.

Deputies say the little boy was found just 3 feet from the road.

The call that came in to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office said that the child was playing in the street.

When a deputy arrived at the home, there was no adult nearby.

Once the officer found the boy's guardian, the officer determined that he was under the influence.

Jonathan Davis was then arrested and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Neighbors say the road is a dangerous street for children to be on.

Davis was charged with public intoxication and endangering the welfare of a minor.

The child was placed in the custody of his grandmother.
