Child advocacy center marks 10th anniversary

The Big Sandy Children's Advocacy Center marked its 10th anniversary on Tuesday with a ceremony and a name change.

The center in Pikeville is now permanently called "Judi's Place for Kids" in honor of Judi Patton who helped create the center.

It helps children in the Big Sandy Region who were either physically or sexually abused.

"Judi's Place for Kids" has helped more than 1400 children since it opened ten years ago.

Patton said, "This center gives these children hope that they can be happy, that love does not hurt, and that they are a value to society."
The center had an open house for the community to tour the building.
