Chris Mossman has been named vice president and general manager of WKYT to replace Wayne Martin who announced he would retire effective January 1.
Mossman has been with Gray Television for 13 years serving most recently as vice president and general manager of WITN in Washington, North Carolina. At WKYT, he will also serve as regional vice president of Gray Television stations in Hazard, Bowling Green, and Knoxville.
"Over the past several years Chris has shown himself to be a dynamic, effective leader of broadcast and internet operations," said Gray Television Chief Operating Officer Bob Prather. "His vision of the future media landscape, utilizing all of the digital platforms available to the modern broadcaster, will help the stations in this region grow and prosper."
A native of Bangor, Maine, Mossman graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in communications management. He has over 25 years of experience in television, advertising and marketing.
In 2011, Mossman was named Broadcasting & Cable's "Local TV Executive of the Year" for markets 51+. Mossman is married with two children in college.
Martin has served at the helm of WKYT since 1993. Before entering broadcasting, he had a successful career as a college and high school basketball coach.
"Wayne has led WKYT through a period of tremendous growth during his tenure as general manager," said Prather. "Wayne represents the best of what we expect out of our managers."
WKYT produces more than 42 hours of news and specialty programming each week. In 2011, the station was honored with an Emmy for station excellence from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
