Myra, Ky. (WYMT)-- A show of Christmas generosity attracted volunteers from as far away as Ohio Saturday.
A Christmas food distribution also included toys for children as well.
People also had a chance to pick up children's board games and books.
This act of charity was also a chance to spread the Gospel, said volunteer John Filbrun, who came from Ohio.
"We just want to help people as the Lord's helped us," Filbrun said.
For one of the organizers at the head of this giveaway, the start began with a difficult time.
"I was pregnant and I lost my daughter, Angel," said Lois Tackett, who works with Manna from Heaven, the group behind this event. "I was just about to go crazy and...this little old lady took me to a food pantry and I worked there ever since."
For other volunteers, this act of Christmas kindness marked a chance to share their blessings..
"I've never had to want a whole lot for anything," said volunteer Patricia Hamilton. "Which I don't want anyone to have to be hungry at Christmas, or without clothing, or without a coat, hat, gloves."
