After seven people, including a pregnant woman, and five children were killed in a Southern Kentucky fire yesterday morning, today dozens of people gathered in the small Knox County community of Gray to remember the lives lost in that fire on Shady Brooke Lane.
At the Keck Baptist Church's Sunday morning service, Saturday's house fire was fresh in people's minds. One man remembers Jesse Disney.
"He's always had a big smile on his face, that's one thing I definitly remember about him," said Jeff Keck, a Sunday School Teacher with the church.
"Father we pray for the disney family. We pray for all the families our father that have been involved in this tragedy in our community this week. We pray father for your comfort and your strength that only you can give," said Pastor Jimmy Siler during the service.
People at the service say the families of victims can take steps towards the healing process with love and support from the community.
"I don't know what they're going through, it's never happened to me. But I do know that i can pray for them and encourage them," Keck said.
He also says in the coming weeks the church has plans to visit the families and bring them food.
The pastor says there is still hope for the families because of God.
"When people's hearts are breaking, my friends it breaks our hearts, too," Siler said.
