London Downtown leaders are asking the community to come together to save the Pennington house.

That one house brought about 50 people to Thursday's Laurel County Fiscal Court meeting.

"I think we have great support from the community to show that we should do everything feasible to see if this property could be saved. A lot of people couldn't be here today, but many people were," said Chris Robinson of London Downtown.

People like Paula Chadwell from the Cumberland Valley Board of Realtors showed their support because they want to be involved in keeping the building around.

"We knew it was a huge responsibility, and there's a whole lot that came with that to be able to do this project," Chadwell said.

The property owner, Tommie Weatherly, donated the home to the Board of Realtors. Now they have to find a way to move it.

"It's exciting to think that they can go under that house, put jacks under there, slide steel beams under there. I'll be there watching if we get to that point," said Chadwell.

That's why she came to the meeting today, to tell the Fiscal Court they need more time and money to make it happen.

"We are only limited by funding, not by passion or ideas. We've got plenty of ideas. We'll just have to come up with the funding," said Chadwell.

They said they already have some money set aside to move the house, but it's not enough.

Community leaders plan to meet with the Fiscal Court to talk about extending the demolition deadline.

Thursday they told the court they would need at least six months.
