City approves budget

Posted: Fri 7:19 PM, Jul 01, 2011

The city of Harlan approves its budget, one that includes cutting another position in the fire department.

The budget passed by a vote of three to two.

That will leave only two full time firefighters in the city's department.

City Council Member Crowley Forester says the cut is a disservice to the citizens of Harlan and he fears it could open the city up to liabilities.

We're told two council members were not at the meeting and were out of town.
