Another band of snow will move into the region tonight. That plus temperatures into the lower 20s will create slick spots across the mountains. Additional accumulation of up to a half inch is possible in the valleys, while up to an additional inch is possible on the ridges. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A documentary by a Kentucky educator has won an award at a Florida film festival.
John Varley is associate professor of communications at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg. The university says Varley co-directed, shot and edited "My Brother, My Sister," which won the award for best documentary last month at the Daytona Beach Film Festival.
In a release from the university, Varley says he is motivated by the award to start work on another project.
The film was co-directed with writer and producer Jameil Hamilton. It is about the effects of Florida's civil rights movement on two brothers and two sisters, who as students in the 1960s fought for justice. The film focuses on their experiences and offers a story that reflects the nation's history.
