Climber airlifted to hospital after climbing accident

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. A climber had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter Saturday afternoon after an accident in Wolfe County.

Officials say it happened around 3:00 p.m. in the Muir Valley area.

A 21 year old man was climbing a route about 70 feet high when he slipped and fell.

A volunteer rescue was immediately notified and he was taken by ambulance to Pine Hill where he was flown to Huntington, West Virginia for treatment.

The extent of the climbers injuries are not known at this time, but officials say they are hopeful he will recover.
