Snow showers are expected on and off Monday through Tuesday. Total snowfall over the course of both days will add up between a trace to 2". 1" to 3" is possible along the higher elevations of the VA border. Slick spots are possible on untreated roads. FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - New numbers show coal production in some of Kentucky's biggest coal producing counties took a big hit last year.
The Energy and Environment Cabinet reports Letcher County saw a 36% drop in coal production.
Pike county also saw a big decrease and that knocked them out of the top spot among coal producing counties.
The number of coal jobs in Eastern Kentucky dropped from 13,000 in 2011 to 9,500 in 2012.
