Kentucky statistics show that coal production in some of the state

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - New numbers show coal production in some of Kentucky's biggest coal producing counties took a big hit last year.

The Energy and Environment Cabinet reports Letcher County saw a 36% drop in coal production.

Pike county also saw a big decrease and that knocked them out of the top spot among coal producing counties.

The number of coal jobs in Eastern Kentucky dropped from 13,000 in 2011 to 9,500 in 2012.
