NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Zooey Deschanel is heading to Broadway to portray Loretta Lynn.
The musical is called "Coal Miner's Daughter," and it's based on Lynn's life story.
Lynn made the surprise announcement during her performance
at a Grand Ole Opry show in Nashville.
Deschanel joined her on stage to sing the title tune.
Lynn did the same thing more than 30 years ago with Sissy Spacek to announce that Spacek would play her in the movie version.
Spacek won an Oscar for the role.
There's no word yet on when the play will make its debut.
