Coin toss will decide final spot on city council

WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - A city council race in Letcher County was tight, in fact it will be decided by a coin toss .

The Whitesburg City Council race had nine candidates running, of which the top six would earn a spot on the council.

It ended in a tie for the sixth spot.

Tom Sexton and Matthew Butler both earned 282 votes.

Thursday morning at nine the two will meet up for a coin toss to see who wins the last seat.
