Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. Keep it locked right here for updates.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday has accomplished his goal of visiting schools in all 174 public school systems in the state.
The Kentucky Department of Education reports that visiting every district was a goal Holliday set when he was named commissioner in 2009. The final visits were to schools in Green and Hart counties Tuesday.
KDE says Holliday visited more than 400 schools. He met with teachers and administrators, served a few lunches, helped teach classes and occasionally returned to his roots as a music teacher and helped lead the school band.
