Community Remembers School Nurse

Allen, Ky. Hundreds of balloons filled the air over Allen Elementary School Wednesday evening in honor of the school's nurse, Stephanie Hall, who died of cancer Sunday.

"It's an honor," said her son, J.T. Hall. "It really makes me feel good about myself. Knowing that there's so many people that supports me."

The celebration included music, poetry, and prayer, for a woman who was special to many in the community.

"She was like a second mom," said Stacy Meade, whose son had diabetes and was cared for by Hall. "We came really close through the past five years that I knew her, and she was just always there and she helped me through a lot."

The school's principal also found that Hall would lend a kind ear.

"She would come in every morning. We could sit and talk," said Chuck Rowe. "I'd go in and vent a little bit when not having a good day."

Her son noted that she had a concern for almost everyone.

"She was a really good woman, you know," he said. "She supported everybody."
