BUCKHORN, Ky. (WYMT) - Parents, students, and school staff came together Saturday night to remember 19 year old Scott Blank, who died this week in a car crash on Hwy 15.

From teammates to teachers, most everyone at Buckhorn School says they consider themselves a tight knit community, but even more so, a family.

“We're a small community and a close knit community,” said Buckhorn Mayor Pat Wooton.

Yet, on Thursday, this family lost one of their own.

“We're just devastated. We don't know what to do. There isn't anything that you can say to anyone, to any family member, when you have a tragic loss like this,” said Organizer Robin Gabbard.

Buckhorn graduate Scott Blank died in a car crash on Highway 15, and on Saturday night the community came together to support one another.

“When you lose a member of your family, everyone comes together to comfort one another. And that’s basically what everybody's doing here today,” said long-time friend of Blank, Bill Deaton.

They remembered his passion, and the impact he had on nearly everyone.

“To have Scott come back and coach those boys was tremendous. He always believed in them you know, if they did something wrong he'd say ‘it's alright boys,’” said PTA President, Jamie McIntosh.

Speakers offered up prayers and words of encouragement for the Blank family, but also for this Buckhorn family standing hand in hand.

Funeral arrangements for Blank have been set for visitation 5 to 9pm this Wednesday and funeral at 1pm on Thursday at the Maggard Mountain View Chapel.
