Along with the snow comes colder temperatures, which can lead to higher heating bills.
The Leslie Knott Letcher Perry Community Action Council was out helping weatherize homes for those in need.
You may not know it, but cracks and leaks throughout your house can lead to increased utility bills.
“Thirty three percent of their income most of the time will go to high energy bills if they do not have a weatherization done on their house,” Annie Thompson said.
It does not just happen in old houses.
“Even in new home construction people don't realize how many leaks they have until you set up an actual blower door and do the test,” Josh Shuffler said.
Officials at LKLP want to stress to everyone that if you need help, all you have to do is apply to their program.
The deadline to register for LIHEAP is Friday December 10th.
