Complaint is filed against Kentucky River Regional Jail

A complaint has been filed by the Kentucky Equality Federation against the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Officials with the KEF say officials at the jail in Hazard have dismissed complaints about what they call a growing trend of sexual harassment by straight inmates against gay inmates at the facility.

KEF President Joshua Koch says, "It is our opinion that jail officials have and continue to show a callous disregard for basic human decency by failing to protect its LGBTI inmates from abuse."

Koch also says that in at least one instance, prescribed medication was withheld from an inmate.

No one at the jail was available for comment.
