FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers has received an award honoring commitment to preserving the spirit of free enterprise.
Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Business Industry Political Action Committee President Greg Casey presented Rogers with the Adam Smith Award last week in Washington.
Rogers said he has always believed in the principles of free enterprise and that he was honored to receive the award. He said the country was built on entrepreneurship, creativity and the idea that anyone can work hard and be successful.
But Rogers said he believes overspending, high taxes and overregulation are hindering the American dream.
