MANCHESTER, Ky (WYMT) - Significant traffic impacts are expected to result from a pending road construction project to begin August 7 at the intersection of KY 80 and the Hal Rogers Parkway in Laurel County.
KY 80, U.S. 25 and the Hal Rogers Parkway will be reduced to two lanes of travel in the area adjacent to the intersection from August 7 through October 31.
The project will result in traffic island removal and complete concrete pavement removal and replacement on KY 80 from its intersection with G.O.P Street to its intersection with the Hal Rogers Parkway.
Several different traffic configurations will be required during the course of the project. The public is advised to be aware of lane shifts, changing turning movements and lane relocations at the intersection. Significant delays are expected, and as a result, motorists are advised to take an alternate route if possible.
All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
