MINNIE, Ky. (WYMT) - Several armed robberies in recent weeks in Pike and Floyd Counties have many people worried.
The latest target was the Double Kwik gas station in Minnie where police say an armed man entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk just before 4:00 Friday morning.
"Troopers remained in the area this morning trying to interview people who lived in the area, neighbors to this business," said KSP Trooper Shaun Little.
Police say the robber was a white male wearing a black hooded shirt, black mask, and black gloves. They say he fled the scene on foot.
Bobby Conley says he is a frequent customer at the store.
"I come here when we're working in this area about every morning," he said.
And he says he thinks robberies are happening too often.
"Doesn't scare me, but it scares me for my family and things like that. You never know when something's going to happen to them when something's going on like that," he said.
State police say they do not think any of the recent robberies are connected.
"The information that we have right now doesn't tie it in to any of the robberies that we've had in Pike County, but the detectives are working together on what information they have from the robberies here in Pike County," said Little.
They urge people to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Kentucky State Police.
