Conventry looks to renegotiate with another healthcare provider

A Kentucky managed care company wants to renegotiate another contract with a hospital in eastern Kentucky.

Coventry Health Care officials have notified administrators within the Baptist Healthcare System they want to renegotiate their contract with the chain.

A Baptist Healthcare System spokeswoman says if they cannot reach an agreement by November 1st, when the contract expires, then Coventry Health Care will allow the contract to expire.

Last week a federal judge ordered officials with Coventry Health Care and Appalachian Regional Healthcare to negotiate a contract after a dispute between the two companies.

An agreement was reached in court that the two would continue its current contract until June 30th and if a new contract was not reached, patients would be allowed to enroll with another MCO program.
