Conway's Senate campaign contests FEC fine

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - The U.S. Senate campaign of Kentucky
Attorney General Jack Conway is suing the Federal Elections
Commission over a $4,950 fine levied over a year-end campaign
finance report.
The campaign, in a lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court
in Paducah, said it sent the report to the FEC on Jan. 25, 2011 and
provided two affidavits backing that statement. The FEC levied the
fine, saying it never received Conway's filing.
The campaign wants a judge halting the FEC's efforts to collect
the fine.
Dr. Rand Paul of Bowling Green, a tea party-backed Republican,
defeated Conway in the 2010 election for the Senate seat vacated
when Republican Jim Bunning retired.
