HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Police say copper thieves did thousands of dollars worth of damage to a building in downtown Harlan.

Police say thieves stole all of the copper out of the old Bissell building.

The building is currently empty and for sale.

Police say witnesses saw the thieves at the building, but thought they were construction workers at the time.

Investigators say they are looking for suspects.

“We feel like it was possibly three or more. The day witnesses seen, they saw a few subjects that matched different descriptions in the building, so we think at least three or more subjects were there,” Officer Jeff Owens said.

An industrial sink and a 300 pound safe is also missing from the building.

Anyone with information should call Harlan Police.
