Many Kentucky school districts are faced with difficult financial situations...as they prepare budgets for next year.
In Corbin, officials are trying to trim three hundred thousand dollars for the 2012-2013 school year.
School officials say their seek funding for the classroom will be two-hundred thousand dollars less next year.
Some teachers are now learning their contracts may not be renewed.
“With the last few years the way the economy has been, the revenues the school districts are receiving are reducing, that is basically from the state with SEEK dollars, and federal dollars. You understand that is going to be a significant cut this year,” Ed McNee said.
State education officials say SEEK money is not being cut, but that there is not as much money per pupil to dish out as there has been in previous years.
