PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The second year of The Country Music Highway Road to Fame is underway. The audition rounds began this weekend.

On Sunday, contestants auditioned in front of three judges at Jenny Wiley State Park. Various tourism offices and the Big Sandy Development District put on the event. Organizers say the contest is looking to find the next great country artist from a part of Kentucky that has produced many country music legends.

Floyd County tourism director, Fred James explains, "Must be a native or resident of one of the counties along the Country Music Highway, U.S. 23, or one of the surrounding counties."

Contestants will move on through qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and then the final contest...which will be held at the, Mountain Arts Center, on July 13th.
