FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - County officials partnered with a chamber of commerce to bring jobs to Eastern Kentucky.

The Southeastern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce met with numerous county officials at an economic development luncheon.

Officials say that it is the first step of action in future economic development.

They said they have plans for new businesses in multiple counties, and hope to bring economic growth to the region by working together.

“I think most of all, it's a symbol of all of us coming together and understanding the reality of economic development. It's on a regional basis and not a county or community basis,” said Chamber of Commerce CEO, Jared Arnett.

Officials said they will be working on projects like bringing commercial air service to Pikeville and a federal prison to Letcher County.
