WYMT Severe Weather Alert

We're tracking the possibility of more storms rolling through today, with some of them being strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire area under a slight risk for severe weather through this evening. The main threats at this point look to be wind and hail. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as needed.

Crash leaves one man dead

A man is dead after a late night car crash in Laurel County.

The crash happened around 10 Thursday night on U.S. 25 near Fairston Road, three miles south of London.

The county sheriff says a car driven by 33-year old Douglas Peek went off the right shoulder of the road and slid about 300 feet through a yard and hit a tree.

Peek was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

No one else was hurt.
