APPALACHIA, Va. (WYMT/Bristol Herald Courier) - Crews in nearby Southwest Virginia are battling a forest fire dangerously close to a town.
The Bristol Herald Courier reports crews worked late into the night to fight a 50 acre fire near Appalachia.
Two Virginia Department of Forestry firefighters, as well as several volunteer departments are on the scene.
Officials say fires were also reported in lee and buchanan counties this weekend.
