Crews continue to re-build bridge

Five days have passed and a community in Hi-Hat is still trapped by water.

Crews continue to re-build a bridge that was washed away by flooding last Friday, but until a new bridge is built the folks living on tunnel road have to walk miles in order to leave their homes.

“The railroad is really nothing but mud and you trip over all the kudzu vines and its really stressful, you get hot because you are walking so much,” Danielle Tackett said.

We tried to contact the Floyd County Judge Executive to see when construction on the new bridge will be completed, but we were unable to reach him.
