Railroad company officials have agreed to stop repairs Tuesday on highway 2-19 towards Wallins.

CSX crews originally planned to close a section of highway 2-19 for the next two days.

Harlan County officials were upset this would lead to more than 400 registered voters having to take an alternative route to the polls which would take an extra twenty minutes.

Voters feared turnout numbers would be low.

"We are going to have a bad turnout. It's going to make it really hard on people. They are not going to drive all that way around," said voter James Stevens.

Railroad leaders say crews will resume repairs on Wednesday.
