Some officials in the City of Cumberland are in the middle of a heated disagreement.
Cumberland Police Chief Kenny Raleigh has filed a grievance against Cumberland Mayor Carl Hatfield.
The mayor is also receiving criticism from Cumberland Councilman Charles Raleigh who is the police chief's brother.
Councilman Raleigh says he has recently confronted the mayor with several financial problems.
"I can prove every allegation that he hired people above their job description, that he hired them above their pay scale, that he used city equipment on city property. This is all by his own admission," said Councilman Raleigh.
But, Cumberland Mayor Carl Hatfield says those allegations are not true.
"They are all false, frivolous. They are lies," said Mayor Hatfield.
The Cumberland Police Chief has also filed a grievance against the mayor.
"Due to him coming up here and constantly harassing saying things that me or any body else won't agree with," said Cumberland Police Chief Kenny Raleigh.
"It's a joint effort to harass me, that's all it is. Both of them, they are brothers," said Mayor Hatfield.
The mayor says he is open to an investigation or hearing, but says there is no proof.
"They are depriving the citizens of what I promised them when I ran for mayor. They are stealing time from me," said Mayor Hatfield.
"It is detrimental to the city, but it is on the mayor's behalf and not on the councils behalf," said Councilman Raleigh.
Councilman Raleigh wants the mayor to resign or step down, but Mayor Hatfield says he has no plans to do that.
A date for the grievance hearing has not been set, but there is a regularly scheduled city council meeting Tuesday night at 6:30.
