BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) Festivals have been happening all over Eastern Kentucky.
In Barbourville, officials say they're working hard to set theirs apart with genuine costumes, foods, and traditions.
Campers have lived in the Primitive camp portion of the festival all week. They say they enjoy teaching the younger generation about the days long gone.
Some say the highlight of the festival is the signing of the cane tree. It happens every year on Friday evening in the midst of Cherokee Indians from the eastern part of the US.
The festival winds down Saturday with the parade downtown.
