BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The 66th annual Daniel Boone festival is underway in Knox County.
The festival is in the town square in downtown Barbourville.
The event features food, entertainment, and carnival rides, but organizers say the purpose is to honor Daniel Boone and other Kentucky pioneers and their history.
"Our festival is more about history and heritage, not commercialized. We're proud of it and would like everybody to know more about it, and that's what we're trying to do," said Al Jordan.
The festival also features the annual signing of the "Cane Treaty" with Cherokee Indians.
The festival runs through Saturday night.
