BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A new Daniel Boone statue has been unveiled in Barbourville.
The life-sized bronze statue of Daniel Boone sits in front of the Knox County Courthouse.
The Daniel Boone Festival Committee helped get the historical marker.
The history buffs say they wanted to honor one of Kentucky's greatest pioneers.
“Nowadays, being a history fanatic and a history buff, a lot of communities are forgetting their history and their heritage and to see a community like Barbourville that's actually embracing that heritage, that's important and it was important to us,” Ken Hill said.
Before they unveiled the statue, the group held a historical re-enactment celebration last week.
