BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT)- The Knox County Fiscal Court and the Knox County Board of Health reached a deal Monday that the Judge-Executive says will get the county's cash strapped hospital on the road to recovery.
The agreement will divert one and a half percent of the health department's taxing district's money to the hospital for two years beginning January of next year. Officials say the move will raise about 300 to 400 thousand dollars a year.
The fiscal court is also looking to shift money from the library tax and abolish the ambulance tax to support the hospital. The court took over operation of the hospital last year after the former owners filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
