Morgan County took a hard hit from Friday's storms. Firefighters there confirm at least three people are dead. This comes just two days after an EF2 tornado left a lot of damage. Friday's damage looks even worse.
"We could see it. It was just big clouds forming and we could see it forming and twisting. And we stood in our yard and watched it twist over. And it came right towards West Liberty," described Darlene Young. She was one of many living in Morgan County who watched as West Liberty crumbled under strong winds and hail.
"We headed out for town. To go to the courthouse. And then we got over there, it blew the windows out, so we had to go into a little back room," said Connie Bressler. Her family left their home, expecting to use the court house in West Liberty as a safe haven. Shortly after Bressler and her husband arrived there, they say a tornado touched down. "We went back into a little back room where's there's a little heavy metal table and got down in it, but I still got grit in my eyes and grit down my throat."
Emergency crews set up a triage center for people who are hurt. It is located in the center of town. Firefighters confirmed three deaths as of late Friday night.
Crews from Morgan County and troopers with Kentucky State Police drove in to help. As of late Friday night, there was no cell phone reception in the area.
