HARLAN Ky. (WYMT) - A surprise customer came into Food City in Harlan!
A deer described as a six-point buck jumped through a window and into the store!
At 11:00 Wednesday night, Head Cashier Frankie Saylor was preparing to close on what was a normal night at Food City.
"We heard this awful noise out here, and then the crashing, and standing back here on register four, I see a deer come around the corner," Saylor said.
The deer had broken the window on the door, then took a trip around the store!
"Very surprising! When the deer started to register four, I went the other way!" Saylor said.
The buck made his way through the produce aisle and then several other aisles without touching any food.
"He didn't damage any product. I think he scared them more than anything," said Cathy Hill, Store Manager.
Employees say after the deer ran through the store, it went to the other front door that automatically opened and the deer ran out.
"It was odd, very odd, not your ordinary night at Food City," Saylor said laughing.
Employees have already replaced the broken window and cleaned up. Now they are back to business as usual.
"I'll be here next week; hopefully the deer won't be," said Saylor.
No one was injured in the store.
Harlan Police responded and looked for the deer but did not find it.
The buck's adventure in the store is on the store's surveillance video, but Food City has not released it.
