Democrats rally at the inaugural Paul Patton Dinner

Democrats from Pike County and around the state gathered in Pikeville on Tuesday night for the inaugural Paul Patton Dinner.

Governor Steve Beshear joined the former governor and University of Pikeville president to speak about the issues that Kentucky faces and how the Democratic Party plans to tackle them.

Former governor Paul Patton was honored at Tuesday’s event for the achievements and contributions he has made in Eastern Kentucky throughout the years.

“Each time that Kentucky has made a major step forward, it’s because the Kentucky Democratic Party was standing there and pushing to make sure the state moved in the right direction,” Beshear said.

Beshear says many issues need to be ironed out in the upcoming months.

“Here in Kentucky, in my mind it’s all about jobs. We are determined to get our people back to work,” the Governor said.

Especially for people working in Eastern Kentucky’s coal industry.

Beshear hopes Republicans and Democrats can find a way to work together to write the future for Kentucky.

The inaugural Central Kentucky Democratic Dinner will be held Thursday in Lexington.
