Perry County, Ky. Seven children were removed Wednesday from a home where deputies said they found methamphetamine and its precursors.
"We did find some weapons, some finished product, some methamphetamine, and some precursors where they had been cooking the meth," said Chief Deputy Tony Eversole of the Perry County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested Shannon Hurt, 40. He faces charges of manufacturing methamphetamines, possession of methamphetamines, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, Eversole said.
"So far he has given us a statement that all the meth was his and he was the one cooking it," said Eversole.
Hurt also faces a charge of fleeing and evading.
He tried to run from the scene while he was handcuffed, police said.
None of the children removed suffered serious injuries, according to officials at Appalachian Regional Healthcare.
