KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A drug raid leads Knox County Sheriff's Deputies to find items used to make pipe bombs.

Deputies also found meth labs inside an apartment this week on Claire Drive in the Moore Hill area.

An anonymous tip led Knox County Sheriff's deputies to check out Apartment 15 late Monday night.

"We smelled a very distinctive smell consistent with a meth lab," said Deputy Brian Hensley.

He says a woman holding a baby tried to escape, inside the apartment they found marijuana, pills, and meth labs.

"That puts the child in danger including the neighbors. The chemical fumes that come off the lab will spread throughout the apartment and the ventilation shaft and through other apartments," said Deputy Hensley.

Brenda Mills lives next door. She is blind. She says even though she cannot see, she knew something was wrong next door.

"I smelled some things plum back in my bedroom. My eyes would burn; my nose would burn. I was sneezing, sick at my stomach," said Mills.

Deputies also found bomb-making materials in the apartment.

"We also found what appeared to be an IED pipe bomb and we also found notes of instructions, handwritten, of how to create and build IED pipe bomb and other destructive devices," said Deputy Hensley.

Deputies arrested the woman, 50-year-old Debra Cassidy, on eight charges including drug possession and child endangerment.

Deputies and ATF agents are still investigating and say they plan to make more arrests in the case and are searching for suspects.

Investigators do not know why yet the suspects wanted to make a bomb.

Mills had no idea her neighbors had that.

"It scared me to death," she said.

Cassidy's bond is $25,000 cash. Deputies say she admitted the meth was hers.

Doctors checked out the six-month old baby at a hospital. Social Services took the baby into custody. Officials say the child is now with family members.
