LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The Laurel County Sheriff's Department and Social Services removed two children from a home they say had deplorable living conditions.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at the home on Morris Road, nine miles east of London.

Deputies say the trailer had no electricity and no running water.

Deputies arrested the father, 20-year-old Eric Spencer, on a bench warrant for failure to appear on a an assault fourth degree charge.

Social Services took the two children, ages five and two, into custody.

"We have a lot of tolerance but for children to be involved and living in conditions like that, we don't have any tolerance," said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.

Deputies say the mother was gone when they arrived on the domestic violence complaint. They are still looking for the mother as part of the investigation.

Investigators say charges are pending regarding the conditions the children were living in.
