A woman says it was a fight over a bra that led to a stabbing!

It happened in Whitley County Tuesday night.

Sheriff's deputies say Virginia Fry, 30, stabbed Erica Petrey Canada six times during the fight.
Fry is charged with attempted murder. WYMT's Angela Sparkman talked with Fry in jail.

"The girl had believed some lies that were told and threatened to do bodily harm," said Fry.

Fry says the fight with Erica Petrey Canada started when she tried to get a bra back. Fry says she left clothes at Canada's house several weeks ago.
"I called her to ask her about the bra and that's when she said, I have a problem with you," said Fry.

The two women and others met near their homes on the side of Highway 92E. Investigators say both women had weapons. Fry's was a kitchen knife.

"They were screaming 'bash her head in, kill her, kill her,' and I had no choice but to defend myself," said Fry.

Deputies say Canada was stabbed six times, once in the chest. A family member took her to the Jellico Hospital. She was later taken to UT Medical Center in Knoxville.

Whitley County Sheriff Deputies say they later found Fry and her boyfriend, Arlis McKiddy, hiding in a nearby home.

Fry is charged with attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.
"It was absolutely self-defense," Fry said.

Deputies say no matter what the fight was about, it should not have led to violence.
"It seems like a lot to fight over a six dollar undergarment," said Deputy Shawn Jackson. "It's very unfortunate they resorted to violence where one woman is fighting for her life," he said.

"I've cried and cried over. I don't want to be a bad person. I'm not a bad person," said Fry.

Canada remains in serious condition.

Arlis McKiddy is also charged with tampering with physical evidence for allegedly cleaning the crime scene and the knife.

Deputies say they will present the case to a Whitley County grand jury to determine if anyone else will face charges.
