Doctor is under investigation for allegedly prescribing more than 40,000 pills in 3 months

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WYMT) - The Clay County Sheriff's Office is investigating after they say one doctor prescribed more than 40,000 pills to Clay Countians in a three month period.

Doctor James Bridges of Bowling Green, Kentucky recently had his medical license suspended for over-prescribing pills.

The Clay County Sheriff says Doctor Bridges prescribed those 40,000 pills to only 200 people in Clay County.

“Not all these patients, per say, but the majority of them are in question are driving long distances to obtain a large amount of prescription drugs that we feel are in some cases they are being paid,” Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson said.

The sheriff says the investigation is still in the preliminary stages.
