PRESTONSBURG Ky.(WYMT)- A Prestonsburg doctor paid the U.S. government fifty thousand dollars to settle civil claims.

Officials say doctor Laura Hazeltine failed to maintain accurate records of controlled substances and as a result was forced to turn over her Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A.) registration.

Doctors can only write prescriptions for controlled substances if they are registered with the D.E.A
