A Johnson County doctor pleads guilty to illegally distributing 50,000 pills at a Paintsville pain clinic.
64 year old Dr. Richard Albert entered the guilty plea Monday morning in U.S. Federal Court in Pikeville.
The DEA, Attorney General's Office, Paintsville Police, and the Sheriff's Department raided his house and pain clinic earlier this year.
Albert admitted he wrote prescriptions for no medical reasons from January 2009 to February of this year.
Court records show he allegedly wrote prescriptions for 100 percocets in exchange for $200 cash.
The plea agreement states Albert performed little to no examination before writing the prescriptions. Patients who returned to the clinic after the initial visit received prescriptions without visiting with Albert.
Albert was taken into custody after court. He faces up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April.
