Dog searches school in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Prestonsburg Police Department teamed up at Johnson Central High School on Tuesday.

The Prestonsburg Police Department brought their drug dog, Storm, over to Johnson County to walk through the school and search for drugs. School officials say making their school a safe place is a factor in the success of their students.

Principal Noel Crum explains, "One of the reasons we feel like we have had success here is because we have a warm learning environment, a safe learning environment and part of that is letting students know we don't have any tolerance for inappropriate behavior or drug activity. Even though we haven't had any major problems with drugs we want the kids to know it is not welcomed at Johnson Central."

No drugs were recovered in the search.
