Donations & assistance information for tornado victims

Organizations across Kentucky have put together efforts to help storm victims.

The Big Creek Fire Department in Pike County has set up a relief center. They are accepting clothes, jackets, blankets, baby items. They ask that you only drop off new items.
They are located at 17397 East Big Creek Rd. Morgan County Central Elementary is serving as a shelter. Organizers need more food.

First Baptist Church, Hawk Creek Baptist Church, Philpot Chapel and East Bernstadt Baptist Church in East Bernstadt are collection donations.

Stanton Fire Department is collecting donations. Items can also be taken to the radio station next to Kroger.

Prestonsburg City Hall is being used as a disaster relief area. They are accepting items to hand out to the West Liberty area, as well as Johnson, Magoffin and Martin Counties.
Assembly of Faith Church on Highway 519 in Morgan County is accepting donations for people in West Liberty and the surrounding area.

The Old Rigley School in Rigley (Morgan County) has opened a donation center. Pastor Gary Ferguson is the contact there.
The ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities has established a fund and donation drive to benefit Morgan County ARH employees. Donations can be dropped off at any ARH hospital location in Eastern Kentucky or Southern West Virginia, as well as ARH system center locations in Lexington and Hazard. Clark County will have a collection truck in the front of Walmart Sunday and Monday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Items requested include :bottled water (individual), toilet paper, toothpaste, tooth brush, paper plates, plastic spoons, plastic forks, disposable cups, garbage bags (heavy duty), bleach, canned potted meat, vienna sausage, beanie weanies, tarps (any size)

Cheap Chevrolet, in Flemingsburg, Ky. is accepting cleaning, personal hygiene, and non perishable supplies, starting Monday at 8:00, and will continue to collect items through Wednesday, March 7 at 6:00 P.M. On Thursday, March 8, Cheap Chevrolet,will deliver the donated items to West Liberty. Cheap Chevrolet is located at 714 West Water St. Flemingsburg, Ky. 4104

Citizens in Martin County can call the Emergency Management Office to file a damage report, to request meal delivery or with general questions at (606) 298-2088. Martin County Courthouse is currently serving as a drop off point for non-monetary donations. Items that are currently needed include water, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, perishable and non-perishable food items, diapers, baby wipes and bottles, garbage bags and plastic storage totes.
Anyone wishing to make monetary donations can do so to Inez Deposit Bank, P. O. Box 365, Inez, Ky 41224. Checks should be made payable to Martin County Tornado Relief Fund. Questions should be directed to Faye Hall at (606) 298-3511.
Meals are being prepared daily, through Saturday, by Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 877 Riverfront Road, Lovely, Ky and Inez Freewill Baptist Church, Route 40, Inez, Ky. Questions regarding meals should be directed to the Emergency Management Office at (606) 298-2088.

Two disaster relief distribution locations will be open for tornado victims in Johnson County on Tuesday, March 6.
Anyone in need of supplies or clothing can pick them up at one of the following locations:
• From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Highland Elementary School, 649 U.S. 23-South, Staffordsville. For more information call 606-297-3674
• From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oil Springs Cultural Arts & Recreation Center (the former Oil Springs High School), 7480 KY Route 40-West, Oil Springs.
Hot meals will be provided at each location.

The Morgan County Department of Community Based Services (DCBS) office has been temporarily relocated because of storm damage.
Beginning Monday, March 5, customers who need information on food benefits, medical assistance and other services and can visit DCBS family support staff at the former Wrigley Elementary School building located at 87 Redwine Road, West Liberty, Ky. 41472.
