HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Two men are now behind bars in Harlan County after they were caught dealing drugs.
Police have thousands of dollars in drugs and cash after the drug bust, but it didn’t come without a chase.
“In circumstances like this, it's a substantial amount, you know you have to think you take a thousand pills off the street that's a good lick no matter what agency does it, it's a very good lick,” said Harlan County Sheriff Marvin Lipfird.
Charles Gilbert and Steven Click are in jail after their drug deal led to a high speed chase.
Police walked to the driver and passenger side doors and asked both the men to step out of the car, but before anyone moved the driver pressed the gas and forced both officers to jump out of the way.
The chase ended at a home owned by Gilbert. They were caught while trying to destroy the pills.
The woman living at the home then gave officers the rest of the drugs.
“I've never had anyone just offer me up a thousand pills,” said Lipfird.
Shoppers at the save-a-lot where it happened are concerned.
“It makes me feel real nervous and everything because you see drug busts around here just about every other day,” said Jeffrey Haywood.
A problem police say they work hard combat.
