Drug Bust In Perry County

The busts start early, making for a rude awakening for many suspected drug dealers sought out by Operation UNITE.

"The majority of them are the repeat offenders. Which is a bad thing. I figure once you get caught the first time, you'd learn your lesson, but apparently it's not that way," said Randy Napier with the Hazard Police Department.

One woman says this is the third time she's had to deal with police on account of trafficking.

All in all, 10 of suspected drug dealers were rounded up on various degrees of charges.

"It's getting worse. That's why we're trying to do something about it, working with UNITE and other agencies trying to put a, ain't gonna stop it all in one day, but try to put a dent in it at least," said Napier.

Police say there are even more suspected drug dealers to arrest, but those will be done on an individual basis.

For now, these 10 will go to the Kentucky River Regional Jail, to be processed and held, and wait for their court date.
